Documenting the austere architectural forms of data centers springing up en masse in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Loudoun County has one of the largest concentrations of data centers in the world. Home to nearly 200 centers totaling over 50 million square feet, much of the world's internet traffic passes through the county every day.
Some laud this as a boom to the local economy, other pan it as a visual and sonic annoyance, not worth the rising energy costs or environmental impacts.
The series shows the architecture’s disregard for their surroundings, both towering and sprawling over an otherwise typical American suburb and investigates the contentious relationship between architecture and environment.
